We are also one of the few riding centres happy to take single bookings without a surcharge. We also cater for riders with non-riding partners with other interests i.e. walking, mountain biking, bird-watching etc. We will provide maps, advice and assistance if required.

If you enjoy schooling, or would like Sandra to give a lesson on the lunge, you are very welcome to use our school. We can also give lessons to novice riders and can put up a small jump.


We have seven horses at our Quinta, the Governer, (Guv) is an Irish thoroughbred. He is a very calm horse & can carry up to 86 kilos (13.5 stone). Haraquiri (Harrie) is a 17hh Lusitano X English thoroughbred. He can carry up to 90 kilos (14 stone). He is a very well schooled horse, light & responsive, a pleasure to ride! The other five can carry up to 76 kilos (12 stone). Smartie is a forward going Arab, Roxy is a mischievous Welsh cob, Domino, a friendly, responsive Lusitano. Comet and Apollo are 7 year old Lusitano brothers.


The father of Comet & Apollo was a beautiful Lusitano horse, their mothers were Portuguese ponies called Garranos, which are an extremely tough race that still run wild in the north of Portugal. Comet is a laid back easy ride & he is our smallest horse at 14hh & is suitable for children or nervous adults. Apollo, who has his fathers looks, is for the more experienced rider & has been trained in basic dessage.

Stable mates

We try to cater for all abilities and requirements. If you both ride but one of you is a novice, Sandra can give a short lesson followed by a gentle hack. She will then accompany the experienced rider for a more difficult or faster paced ride, while the novice partner sunbathes or swims. We do not book riders of different standards in the same week unless they are family & friends.
